Lyrics & Lore, the latest release from The Hero and The Villain, arrived on August 14th as part of the 2026 St. Cloud Art Crawl. This collection of tracks pairs original songwriting with original visual art. Eight local artists each responded to a track on the album, translating its lyrics and lore into paintings, illustrations, and mixed-media work displayed alongside the music itself.

Recorded in a spare, intimate style inspired by artists like Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska, the album leans into stripped-down acoustic arrangements: guitar, harmonica, bass, and cajon that leave room for the songs' imagery to breathe. Themes of dormant callings, quiet transformation, and the strange grace found in unlikely places run throughout, whether the songs are drawn from scripture, folklore, or the internet's own modern myths.

Lyrics & Lore was released in partnership with the Central MN Arts Board, with a launch performance and art exhibit held at Cream City Tattoo in St. Cloud. The album is available now for streaming and purchase on all major platforms, with physical copies available directly through the website.
